Made a few cakes lately
Made my first designer cake. I had trouble with the clay gun working. I finally gave up and rolled the fondant by hand for the trim. But when I went back to see why the clay gun wastn't working it worked fine. Got me? I had already delivered my cake. Better job next time!
Holy cow cake was a white cake with whipped cream frosting. I made head stones along the cake board saying things like RIP, over the hill, etc and added a little black and white cow that said Holy Cow look who is 30..

Check out my latest Birthday Cake
I couldn't believe how much time this cake took. I spent about 8 hours making on Sunday. Making a double chocolate cake, with a stabilized whipped cream filling (which was very daring with a fondant cake) Italian butter cream frosting. I put the crumb coat on Sunday night. Went to bed at 9 couldn't sleep so I got up at 11:30. I finished by putting fondant on and all the embellishments. I completed it around 4:30 in the morning. Reminds me when I use to run and when I had a race in the morning I would get to excited to sleep. What two different activity's.

Another Fondant Class
This is my finished product from the fondant class. I really didn't have much of a plan. We learned how to do brushed embroidery. I haven't tried it yet but it is on my list of things to do. We also made Italian butter cream. Can't wait to test it out on the family
I love to take classes on different things. In the last 12 months I have taken a hand gun class, landscaping class, photography classes, Photoshop class, crochet class, Gum Paste Class, Topsy Turvey class, Cake Decorating, several fondant classes, basic cakes, sauce class and How to use knifes in the kitchen. Always looking for a new class. This weekend I took a fondant class at the Viking School.
It was a lot of fun. I wished we could have spent the weekend there. I am looking forward to taking more classes there. Hope to take some with my daughters and daughter in law.
You can see the array of beautiful fondant cakes with all the spring colors. The instructor was a pastry chef named Jaxon Stallard. She had some techniques that were different from classes I have taken in the past. It is always fun to learn different ways as you try to develop your own style.

I have to add Little McKenzies birthday cake
Mckenzies cake was actually a very small cake. The bottom layer was only an 8 inch round (8, 6, 4). It was a chocolate cake with butter cream icing covered with fondant. I love the part in Snow white where all the cherry blossoms come falling down. McKenzie hasn't got to see that yet but I know she will love it. I tried to make the cake look like all the cherry blossoms were falling down.
